Through my volunteer work with Zooniverse, I was able to contribute to real scientific research projects in a variety of fields, including astronomy, ecology, and climate science. As a volunteer, I was responsible for completing tasks such as classifying images and identifying patterns or anomalies in data sets. By doing so, I was able to contribute to important research projects and help scientists gain a better understanding of complex phenomena.
This allowed me to develop valuable skills such as attention to detail and critical thinking while gaining experience in scientific research. Volunteering with Zooniverse also connected me with other volunteers from around the world, fostering a global community of scientific research.
Year 2022
Participated in "NASA GLOBE Land Cover Challenge 2022: Land Cover in a Changing Climate". Data includes providing location, reporting on overall cloud cover and surface conditions that can impact satellite observations . The NASA GLOBE Clouds Team matched my cloud observation with corresponding satellite data and it was a match!
The satellite match is based on the time and location of my cloud report.
I also participated In GLOBE Observer Mosquito Habitat Mapper. Mosquitoes are a serious health risk: millions of people die each year from mosquito-borne disease. While climate and weather conditions can suggest to scientists where to expect spikes in mosquito populations during the year, we don’t know for sure what is happening unless we make observations on the ground. By reporting possible mosquito habitats through the app, GLOBE Observers are able to augment broad scale satellite-based research with highly targeted local ground-based observations.

‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ is a campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it to mark the 75th year of India’s independence. Our relationship with the flag has always been more formal and institutional than personal. Bringing the flag home collectively as a nation in the 75th year of independence thus becomes symbolic of not only an act of personal connection to the Tiranga but also an embodiment of our commitment to nation-building. The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag. The Indian National Flag is a symbol of national pride for the entire nation. To further honor our flag, the Hon'ble Home Minister who oversees all efforts under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) has approved the program of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’. It envisages inspiring Indians everywhere to hoist the national flag at their home. Our relationship with the flag has always been more formal and institutional than personal.
